Joining a new school is a big step, at National Online School (NOS) we aim to make the process as smooth and reassuring for our students and their families. From your initial conversation with our Admissions Team to your first day at NOS. We design each stage to ensure our NOS families feel secure and supported…
Congratulations, you have your placement with NOS confirmed, what next?
- Introductory Call
Your journey begins with an introductory call. During this conversation, a member of our induction team will provide a full overview of the school, explain how our online provision works, and answer any questions you may have. Information about teachers and pastoral mentors are also sent to students at this point.
This is also an opportunity to discuss your child’s needs, confirm their learning pathway, and agree on next steps. We want families to feel informed, listened to, and confident from the very start.
- Chromebook Provision
To ensure every student can access learning safely and consistently, your child will be issued with a NOS Chromebook. This device is used exclusively for online lessons and comes equipped with safeguarding software to restrict access to inappropriate content. The Chromebook is installed and sent by courier to your home.
You will also receive login details and your child’s timetable, so everything is ready ahead of their start. Our qualified team is also on hand to support with setup if needed.
- Student Induction
All our students take part in a structured induction period, typically lasting one week. This induction is led by a Therapeutic Integration Practitioner and is designed to help your young person settle into online learning at a comfortable pace.
During induction, we focus on building trust, routines, and confidence. Your child will be introduced to the platform, expectations, and key adults who will support them throughout their time at NOS. This stage helps ensure students feel safe, supported, and ready to engage and learn!
- Transition Process
Following the induction, your child will begin their transition into their bespoke learning pathway. This transition is carefully planned to reflect their individual needs, strengths and readiness.
If additional support or therapeutic intervention is identified, referrals will be made to the appropriate teams to ensure the right provision is in place.
Our approach is flexible and responsive, allowing us to adapt support as your child progresses.
A Supportive Start
At NOS, we understand that every child’s journey is different. Our induction and transition process is built around compassion, communication, and collaboration with families. We don’t rush students into learning, we meet them where they are on their learning journey and move forward together.
