Celebrating GCSE success at National Online School

We are incredibly proud to be celebrating the achievements of our National Online School students as they receive their GCSE results. This year, 40 students from 15 different Local Authority areas took examinations with us, achieving some fantastic results. 74.6% of grades were Grade 4 or above compared with a national average of 67%. 23.9% achieved Grades 7-9, compared with a national average of 23.1%, including six Grade 9s.

As the UK’s first DfE-accredited online SEND school, these results mean considerably more to us than grades alone. Many of these exceptional young people have faced significant barriers to education, so reaching the point of sitting an examination can itself represent an enormous achievement.

For some students, a conventional school environment simply hasn’t worked. Online education provides another pathway, enabling them to engage with learning in an environment and at a pace that better meets their individual needs while maintaining high expectations for what they can achieve. Our students have certainly demonstrated that ambition this year.

Every young person deserves a route into education and the opportunity to fulfil their potential. These results are first and foremost about celebrating our students.

Areyauna Rais-Firouz, Principal at National Online School said:

“I am incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved this results day. For many of our young people, the journey to Results Day has not been straightforward. They have overcome significant barriers to education, often after previous experiences where they have felt disconnected from learning, from school and sometimes from their own potential.

At NOS, our vision is rooted in connection – connecting young people to learning, to others and to the opportunities that will shape their futures. Today is a wonderful reminder of why those connections matter.

These achievements are about so much more than grades. Every result represents an individual journey of resilience, growth and renewed belief in what is possible. Our students show us what young people with SEND can achieve when education connects with who they are, what they need and where they want to go.

I hope every one of our students feels enormously proud today. Their results are not simply an ending; they are a connection to whatever comes next – further study, training, employment and the futures they are building for themselves.”

Congratulations to every one of our students who have received their results. We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next.
