Celebrating A-Level Success at National Online School

We are incredibly proud to celebrate four National Online School students who received their A-Level results last week, achieving qualifications across Maths, English, Psychology and Sociology.

For these young people, reaching Results Day represents far more than a grade. Each has experienced significant barriers to accessing education in a traditional onsite school, and their journeys to this point have not always been straightforward. Yet they have continued to learn, work towards their qualifications and look ahead to what comes next.

Every student who joins National Online School is different. There is no single approach that works for every young person with SEND, which is why understanding the individual student is central to the way we work. For some of our A-Level students, anxiety and previous experiences of education had made attending an onsite school incredibly difficult. Others needed greater flexibility, predictability and stability to be able to engage with their learning.

Our role is to understand those barriers and create an environment where students can access education in a way that works for them. This can mean providing clear routines and expectations, adapting teaching approaches, offering flexibility around how students participate in lessons and recognising that engagement can look different for every young person. Alongside their academic learning, students are supported by our wider SEND specialist therapeutic and pastoral teams, helping them to build confidence and continue engaging with their education in a way that best suits them.

Results Day naturally puts the focus on grades, but for us, success is about much more. It can be a student being able to access lessons when previously education felt overwhelming, speaking in front of their classmates, building friendships, growing in confidence and independence, or beginning to think positively about their future. Being able to work towards meaningful qualifications and take those next steps is something worth celebrating.

Our A-Level students have shown enormous determination to reach this point, and we are delighted to see their hard work recognised. We are celebrating not only their academic achievements, but the progress they have made in accessing education, overcoming barriers and continuing to work towards their ambitions.

To our four A-Level students, congratulations. We are enormously proud of everything you have achieved and the progress you have made along the way. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
