MEET Josh

Before Joining National Online School
  • Josh had extremely low attendance, missing 98% of Year 3 and 99% of Year 5 due to Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • He had been out of education since November 2024, with no consistent provision in place.

Progression
  • Josh's attendance is improving: It increased from 38.3% to 58.8% overall, with strong attendance in core subjects (Maths ~88–100%, Science ~86–89%) and consistent use of a reduced timetable to support reintegration.
  • After being out of education since Nov 2024, Josh is now regularly attending lessons and sustaining participation over time.
  • He uses camera/mic, contributes to discussions, and reads aloud, with teachers noting improved focus, confidence, and active participation.
  • Josh demonstrates growing skills in English (reading, writing, confidence), Maths (closing gaps, working independently), and Science (increased attendance and engagement).
