MEET Jackson

Before Joining National Online School
  • Jackson was diagnosed with Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, DiGeorge Syndrome and Global Developmental Delay.
  • Jackson was out of education for 9 months prior to joining TCES National Online School.
  • Jackson faced significant challenges with school attendance due to sensory sensitivities, anxiety about germs and a weakened immune system, making noisy environments and social interactions overwhelming.
  • Jackson was non-verbal approximately 75% of the time, at both home and school.
  • Jackson’s academic progress was around 5-7 years below age-related expectations.
September 2024 - Started at the National Online School
  • Despite challenges with Global Learning Delay and working memory difficulties, which place his learning at a Year 7 level, Jackson’s confidence and willingness to learn have greatly improved. In just 3 months, he progressed from a Year 7 to a Year 10 English class, showing impressive growth.
  • Through our supportive teaching approach and the integration of online therapeutic practices to manage his anxiety, Jackson’s confidence and engagement in learning have flourished.
  • Jackson participates in our RISE Psychoeducation Programme, developing self-awareness, emotional literacy, and resilience. He explores emotions, identifies triggers, learns coping strategies, and demonstrates an understanding of others' feelings and his own actions.
  • Jackson attends the Online Gaming Group which focuses on social communication, teamwork, and emotional literacy. These therapist-led sessions target specific skills such as emotional regulation, social communication and problem-solving.
Progression
  • Jackson now actively participates in class verbally and no longer experiences anger, overwhelm, or sensory meltdowns during school.
  • Jackson’s willingness to participate and tackle tasks is a key strength and he’s making great progress towards completing his Functional Skills in Maths and English.
  • Jackson also participates in Cooking Club, showing increased confidence in social interactions.
Thank You to all the truly amazing staff at NOS who not only give Jackson a wonderful education but also truly care about and help with his emotional and mental wellbeing!
