safeguarding

Safeguarding children and promoting their wellbeing lies at the heart of everything we do. It is an attitude of mind, a belief system and a way of thinking that places the welfare of our students at the forefront of every action.

Policies and systems, such as safer recruitment, behaviour management, child protection and whistleblowing procedures arise out of this belief and are used to promote and sustain it. They are essential tools which help to maintain our school-wide commitment to best practice and legal requirements.

KEY safeguarding POINTS

Safeguarding our children and young people is the most important of our pillars. We invest heavily in personal hardware and the most advanced software for every student.

Students can only access anything online through their personal TCES profile and email address.  The extensive safeguarding team in our office constantly monitor all access and notifications across every device.

A common question from parents and LA’s is ‘how do we safeguard properly online?‘ As well as all the measures outlined on this page, our National Online School actually has a unique advantage over traditional in-person schools because we are able to assess and monitor the young person at home and in their natural environment. This creates a unique insight into every student’s wellbeing.

Students are often much more willing to open up and share information through technology rather than in an overwhelming in-person setting.

In addition, every child is fully risk assessed before joining our National Online School. We run an extensive induction and onboarding pastoral programme too which covers all essential safeguarding information.
